Georgetown Frame Shoppe "News"
1/2/06 - Happy New Year! We are grateful to report a successful
year at the Georgetown Frame Shoppe, and would like to extend our thanks
and appreciation for the support of all our valued customers. The recent
acquisition of the Odyssey Portfolio by Marc Chagall has brought us great
excitement, as we view this rich body of work as a testament to Chagall's
undeniable expertise in storytelling through color and composition.
11/06/2005 - A few days ago the Georgetown Frame Shoppe was noted
in the The New York Times "Fashion and Style" section, for being one of
the best online galleries! To read this great review of online galleries,

here. The Georgetown Frame Shoppe has acquired this fall the entire
portfolio of Miro's Constellations, published in 1959. These original
full color pochoirs are are some of the Miro's finest prints he ever made.
10/20/2005 - Happy Halloween all! This fall we have a number of
great new works of art for sale! Some of our favorites are: Picasso's
"Grande Maternite," published by the Mourlot Press in 1963; Francoise
Gilot's color lithograph, "Girl with a Crown," executed in 1967; as well
as a number of original Andy Warhol screenprints from his 1981 "Myths"
portfolio. All are wonderful works of art that we are happy to be able
to offer to our clientele at reasonable prices.
09/27/2005 - Fall is here once again and Georgetown Frame Shoppe
has some fabulous new art to celebrate the change of season. We have several
lovely new original works by Joan Miro. The etching - "Fireworks I", and
the lithograph - "The Literate Man Green", are both Signed Originals we
have now for sale at excellent prices. Georgetown Frame Shoppe has also
acquired a number of original Marc Chagall portfolios. "The Fables of
Jean de la Fontaine", published in 1952, is among our most valued art
books we now have for sale.
10/01/2004 - Happy Halloween!Currently on exhibit is a wonderful
selection of original Joan Miro and Alexander Calder lithographs and etchings.
Of Miro's work on display, are his famous Ubu Roi lithographs made in
1966, and his Abstract series, executed in 1975. Of Calder's work, we
have a number of fantastic Derrier Le Miroir lithographs and lovely selections
from his surreal Pyramids series done in 1973. Our Georgetown exhibition
was largely inspired by the current show of Joan Miro paintings and Alexander
Calder mobiles at the The Phillip's Collection in Washington DC Both are
worth a visit! A great new addition to our gallery is a collection of
Pablo Picasso vintage posters. They make wonderful collectibles.
07/01/2004 - Great News! We've been having an excellent summer.
We recently acquired the entire Lysistrata series by Pablo Picasso. All
are in excellent condition. This lovely portfolio illustrates the Greek
comedy Lysistrata written by Aristophanes in 411 BC. Also this summer
we added to our collection six original Norman Rockwell Serigraphs. Starstruck
and Dreamboats are two especially rare and humorously sweet Rockwell's
that we have on display at our gallery. All our Norman Rockwell's are
signed in pencil and numbered. On exhibition this month is a great collection
Original Henri Matisse Lithographs; The Blue Nude series, La Piscine series,
and a variety of single lithographs like Zulma and Decoration Masques.
04/01/2004 - Spring has arrived. Come on in and check out our new signed Andy Warhol
prints from "The Cowboys and Indians" portfolio published in 1986. These
screenprints have been sold out for many years and are from the edition
of 250 signed and numbered in pencil by Andy Warhol. Also, recently arrived
an original signed Pablo Picasso Linocut published by Vallauris in 1957.
This is quite large and pretty from the small edition of 198. We recently
framed Pablo Picasso's
only 24 color lithograph which he made in 1961 called Le Picador II
published by Sabartes and it looks incredible. It is very affordable at
$1800 framed with a hand wrapped silk mat, hand rubbed brown and gold
frame with the matching inner fillet frame and conservation UV protection
picture glass.
