Alexander Calder is considered one the world's most renowned kinetic
sculptors. His first work of kinetic art was created in 1931, and moved
by systems of cranks and motors. Marcel Duchamp dubbed these objects "mobiles",
for in French mobile refers to both motion and motive. In the following
years Calder eventually abandoned the mechanical components of his creations,
realizing he could fashion mobiles that could undulate on their own using
air currents.
Unknown to many, Calder also created a large number of lithographs and
etchings. These works of printed matter carry many similarities to that
of his three-dimensional work. They share palettes and forms and his images
often seem like the imagined surreal landscapes which his creature-like
sculptures might inhabit.
Pictured above is an original Alexander Calder lithograph titled Sun
and Moon. This wonderful piece was created circa 1970. Sun and
Moon is hand signed in pencil by Calder in the lower right hand corner
and measures 29.5" x 41.5" unframed. Georgetown Frame Shoppe
is currently selling this original Calder lithograph framed for $5,500.

Pablo
Picasso is considered to be one of the great artists of the 20th century.
As much as he was a painter, sculptor, and ceramicist, he was also a great
and prolific print maker. In his lifetime he created a miraculous body
of lithographs, etchings, linocuts and aquatints. Often, using various
print mediums, he chose to illustrate great works of literature, and the
literature and poems of his friends. Lysistrata, Sable Mouvant and Vignt
Poemes are just a select few of the vast body of Picasso's illustrative
portfolios.
Pictured here is the original hand signed Pablo Picasso
etching, Anatole Jakovski. This piece is hand signed by Picasso
in the bottom right hand corner. It is from an edition size of 50, published

Next to Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein is considered to be one of the
greatest artists of the Pop Art movement.
Aside from producing paintings and sculptures, Roy Lichtenstein also
created a great number of prints. Lichtenstein often employed the use
of multiple mediums such as lithography, screenprinting and etching for
the creation of a single print.
His work is often characterized as ironic, humorous and witty. In response
to this commonly held opinion, he once stated "I am sure there are
certain aspects of irony (in my work), but I get really involved in making
the paintings when I am working on them, and I think just to make parodies
or to be ironic about something in the past is much too much of a joke
for that to carry your work as a work of art."
Pictured above is Roy Lichtenstein's original hand signed lithograph
and screenprint, Still Life with Pitcher and Flowers. This work
is hand signed, and measures 37" x 52" unframed. A total edition
of 100 were published by Multiples Inc., New York, 1974. Please contact
