If you visit the Georgetown Frame Shoppe, you will have the opportunity
to see for yourself the quality of framing our business maintains.
Currently we have on display a number of
original Henri Matisse lithographs from the series, "Poesies
Antillaises." Each lithograph is framed with hand wrapped silk matting
that borders and floats the image. The soft natural coloring and
delicate texture of the silk works to both compliment and enliven
the cream colored, textured paper and line image of these lovely
lithographs. For the glazing, we used UV protected non-glare glass,
which aides in the preservation of these valuable Henri Matisse
lithographs. The natural wood frames are dyed a dark brown and textured
to create an antique aethestic. A thin strip of gold runs around
the innner sides of the frame, subtlely illuminating the art.
At Georgetown Frame Shoppe, our craftsman have the knowledge and
experience to produce a framed work of art of museum quality. We
only use 100% cotton rag matte, 100% archival backing board and
other acid free archival materials such as acid free artist tape
and UV protected glass. We refuse to use non archival materials
such as cardboard backing or gator board to support your art. It
has been found that over time, acid and other harmful additives
used in the production of these materials, will damage your art.
One of our specialties here at the shop is custom matting. For
those clients who desire a more textured and luxurious border around
their art, we provide personally wrapped matting made with high
quality linen, silk or suede, and 100% cotton conservation rag matte.
We also offer our customers the possiblility of matting their art
with archival matting that has been hand painted in the traditional
French manner.
If you're one to shy away from spending extra money on a hand wrapped
silk or linen matte, we provide the affordable alternative of 100%
acid free cotton conservation matting. We carry this product fom
Crescent and Bainbridge, both reputable companies. They are available
in an enormous variety of colors and sizes, certainly enough to
fit the budget and taste of almost any client.
There are a number of little things that need to be taken into
account when framing a work of art. At Georgetown Frame Shoppe,
we're here to help you make those decisions to the best of our ability.
For example, our in house designers will likey ask you questions
pertaining to your choice of picture frame glass. Questions like-Are
you hanging your artwork in direct sun light? If so, maybe U V clear
conservation glass is the best to frame your work with. Does the
reflection of the light off the glass bother you? If so, you should
consider using non-glare glass. Or, maybe the glare doesn't bother
you and you have a certain budget in mind. Regular picture frame
glass, which is most commonly used, is probably the best choice
and least expensive to frame your piece with.

Maybe your artwork has been created on beautiful, deckled edged
paper, that you want displayed? An alternative to mattting up to
the image and cropping in, would be to float your artwork on a matte
and install spacers between the matte and frame. Here, the glass
is kept off the artwork, and the whole piece is available for viewing.
Our design consultants can go over various options to help you decide
what will compliment your artwork while staying within your budget.
We offer you great service, and top quality materials and craftmanship
at a reasonable price. We pride ourselves on returning your art
framed within a week to 10 days. We believe this is another reason
our clients choose our business over other loacal framing businesses.
We always do our best to uphold this reputation without compromise
to the quality of our work.
